Hit your system-wide shortcut from any application and a capture window appears instantly, with no switching and no clicking. Then just type the way you think: "Call Mom tomorrow", "Submit report next Friday", "Dentist Tuesday at 3pm". KiteTasks parses the date, time, and title automatically, so you never touch a date picker. Enter to save, and you're back in whatever you were doing in under three seconds.

KiteTasks lives in your menu bar, so your day is never more than one click away. Open the popover to see today's tasks alongside your Google Calendar events, check things off, or type a new task into the quick-add field, all without opening the main window or leaving what you're doing.
Google makes no Google Tasks widget for the Mac, so KiteTasks ships its own: Today, List, Calendar, Month and Month grid widgets that sit on your desktop or in Notification Center, right next to Apple's. Tick a task in the Today or List widget and it is done, no app window needed, and the + button opens Quick Add for a new one. KiteTasks for iPhone puts the same Today, List and Calendar widgets on your Home Screen.
Planning ahead shouldn't mean switching between apps. The Upcoming view lays out every scheduled task for the days ahead and overlays your Google Calendar events right next to them, so meetings, deadlines, and to-dos all live on the same timeline. I'm Arturo, the developer behind KiteTasks.
Google Tasks is a fantastic product. It's free, it's everywhere, and the deep integration with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Gemini makes it hard to leave. I use it every day to manage both my personal life and my work.
But let's be honest: Google hasn't given the UI much love. Compared to apps like Todoist or TickTick, the experience feels a little forgotten. No desktop app, no search, no global shortcut, no Today view. Just a small sidebar tucked inside Gmail.
I kept thinking: what if Google Tasks had a proper Mac app with a clean interface and the features it deserves? So I built one.
KiteTasks is the app I wanted to exist. It keeps everything I love about Google Tasks (the sync, the simplicity, the Google ecosystem) and wraps it in a native Mac experience that actually feels good to use. No Electron, no web view. Just a real app for the task manager I was already using every day.

Your tasks are stored only on your Mac and in your Google account, and they are never routed through or stored on third-party servers. The app itself ships with zero telemetry: no usage tracking, no crash analytics, no phone-home. It does not collect any personal data beyond what is needed to sync with Google Tasks. (The kitetasks.com marketing website is a separate surface and uses basic, anonymised web analytics, fully disclosed in our Privacy Policy.)
Yes. KiteTasks includes a built-in local MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects Google Tasks to AI assistants. Add KiteTasks to Claude Desktop in one click from Settings. Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, and any other MCP client are supported too. Once connected, your assistant can list, search, create, update, complete, move, and delete tasks, plus create and rename task lists, across all your Google accounts. The MCP server is off by default, and everything runs locally on your Mac, so your tasks are never routed through third-party servers.
Yes. KiteTasks supports adding multiple Google accounts and switching between them instantly with a single click. Each account maintains its own task lists, Today view, and settings. This is useful for keeping work and personal tasks separate without needing to log in and out or manage multiple browser profiles, which is required when using Google Tasks through the web.
Yes, and they come directly from the Google Tasks API, not from KiteTasks itself. The Google Tasks API does not expose recurring tasks or specific times of day, only dates. That means KiteTasks cannot set a task to repeat automatically. You can still give a task a time, say 3:00 PM, and a reminder, but they stay in KiteTasks: the official Google Tasks apps show only the date. These limitations apply to every third-party Google Tasks client, and they are outside our control. The good news: KiteTasks is built to take advantage of new API capabilities the moment Google ships them, so as soon as recurring tasks and time-of-day support are added to the Google Tasks API, they will be integrated into KiteTasks right away.
Yes. Google Tasks does not include any search functionality: once a task scrolls out of view, the only way to find it is manual scrolling.
